Diversity, Safety, & Affirmation

In my voice studio, I am committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.

I am dedicated to avoiding the discrimination of any person on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin or ancestry, genetic information, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, or status of a veteran. I work to ensure that all singers will be able to sing music that is appropriate to their identity. I promote all musical styles and genres in my students’ learning.

While I seek to provide a safe environment, I recognize that I will make mistakes. If you are being discriminated against, please provide feedback on how I can do better. You can talk with me in person, or you are welcome to make use of the contact form available on this website for anonymous feedback.

Thank you.

What To Expect in a First Lesson

I’m all about giving you (or your child) the feedback, resources, and support you need to achieve your goals. In your first lesson we will discuss your musical goals, and I will base your lessons on what you are interested in learning. If you don’t have a specific direction in mind, we will begin working on fundamentals of vocal technique, health, anatomical understanding, and expression. I’ll play piano while you sing along doing different “warmup exercises” so I can hear your voice and get an idea of where you’re at. I’d love to hear you sing a song as well! If you’re not sure what to prepare, try choosing a piece you’d sing along to in the car.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught

I welcome students of all skill levels from age 10 and up. I can work with younger students; however, I recommend we have a few initial test lessons to see if they enjoy the process of studio training.

Genres and Subjects Taught

I am trained in classical music, and as such am more experienced teaching classical singing. However, I enjoy working with all genres and have had great success with students of all ages and interests.

In addition to helping you with your vocal health and style, I can also help you build your sight reading skills and learn more about music theory.

Lesson Rates & Payment Schedule

In 2026 I charge $30 for a 30 minute lesson, $45 for 45 minutes, and $60 for 60 minutes.

In November 2026, rates will change to $40 for a 30 minute lesson, $55 for 45 minutes, and $75 for 60 minutes.

Digital payment is accepted via Venmo or Zelle. I can accept cash or checks if you prefer.

Cancellations

All scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations will be done via email or text. Students are expected to pay for a cancelled lesson if the cancellation occurred within 24 hours of the lesson, as I am unable to give that time slot to someone else with such short notice. Please note my strict 24 hour cancellation policy.

To protect everyone’s health, I do not allow students to come in to the studio if they are ill (and I will let you know if I become ill).

If you are ill or otherwise unable to come to the studio for your lesson, we can still meet online. If you are unable to sing, a lesson could include: character/sentence work, diction, going over practice strategies, questions, vocal anatomy, music theory, breath work, etc.

Expectations for In Person vs. Online

My studio is located in Bergen County. If you are close enough to attend in person, let me know at the Sign Up page.

If we are meeting in person, you will get the most out of your lesson if you have a phone or other device to record video or audio.

If we are meeting online, we will meet using Zoom. I will send you a link to your own private lesson room. Online lessons are most successful if you are using a computer that is set up with headphones and a microphone, but we can make any situation work.

Practicing

Remember the importance of regular practice; while regular lessons provide valuable information, only practice will help the information become habit. Be aware that many vocal students should be careful not to practice too long at first. We will discuss this in your lessons.
